At home in their own skin
A PHOTOGRAPHIC COLLABORATION
Who’s doing this?
Al Wasco, Cleveland designer who loves photography, people and their bodies. Among other things.
What will be done with the photos?
My goal is to create enough beautiful images to show in an art gallery. In the meantime, selected images are posted on this website and
on Instagram @thebeautyofthebodyphoto.
As of 2024 about a dozen images have been selected for online and/or gallery shows in Laguna Beach, CA (Las Laguna Gallery, Figures and Faces 2022), Cleveland (New Now, 2022; Best of Show, Photofest 2021), Detroit (The Dirty Show 2024, 2022), Indianapolis, IN (Amorous Art 2023), Minneapolis (Praxis Gallery, Nude Geometries 2022), Orlando, FL (Nude Nite 2023), and Washington DC (Merit Award, NCOA Celebrating the Strength and Wisdom of Women 2023).
Do I have to be nude?
The goal of the project is to show you in your own skin (nude)—but the photo session starts with you fully clothed. We will then explore various locations and poses and you will be asked to remove your clothing. If at any point during the session you are uncomfortable we can alter or stop the session. You are in control.
But I’m not the model type
Yes you are.
I’m looking for people of any age, gender, and ethnicity. Individuals and couples. No experience necessary.
I don’t want my mom/neighbor/kids/cable guy to see my nude photos!
You can choose to remain anonymous. This means that your face will be obscured or not visible in any photo published for the project and your real name will not be used. You can choose this option when you sign the Model Release.
What do I get out it?
A feeling of empowerment. My thanks. And more tangibly, 10-12 high-quality digital images from the shoot and one photo print approx. 11 x 14”.
I’m not sure I’m ready…
That’s understandable. But it may be a chance to try something new, to step out of your comfort zone. What do you have to lose?
Work with me to share your beauty and show who you are. I encourage your input and collaboration before, during and after we take the pictures.
Are you ready?
I have more questions…
Great! Contact me via email (click below), phone/text (216-496-5403) or in person. I’m happy to answer any questions you have.
Working with Al was interesting and a lot of fun. He makes the whole experience very easy.
He wants you to be who you are and what you are.
I'd be happy to do it again.
—Charlie, age 80
